Two police officers were killed, while two others were badly injured after a three-tonne lorry rammed into the roadblock that the officers were manning.
The incident occurred at 5.21am on Wednesday (Nov 6) as the officers were packing up their stuff and getting ready to leave.
Pasir Gudang Fire and Rescue Station chief Ibrahim Omar said that the roadblock was conducted near a grocery store in Taman Pasir Putih.
“The four victims, in their 30s, were packing up when a Hino lorry suddenly crashed into the police Land Rover.
“The victims were rushed to Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI). The two officers who were inside the Land Rover were pronounced dead while on the way to receive treatment, ” he said.
The two policemen who died are from the Pasir Gudang police station and Taman Scientex police station.
The other two, who were badly injured, are from Pasir Putih police station and Taman Scientex police station.
The case has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
